Ascent Trip ReportAs others have, I parked at the turnout next to Plainfield Pond on MA 116. My personal assessment of this mountain: not nearly as bad as some posts on here make it out to be but certainly not an easy bushwhack by any means. I was able to do it in shorts, albeit with quite a few scratches to show for it by the time I was done. Followed the old logging road up the mountain, mostly ferns, didn't really hit any raspberry prickers until the last couple hundred feet near the top. When I was here, there was a beaten down path through the ferns left by someone else who must have climbed it recently. However, my advice would be to hike a couple hundred feet off to the west of the logging road... the woods are much more open here, with better footing (this is the route I took on the way down, the logging road is littered with jumbled masses of downed branches from the logging buried under the ferns... it's a twisted ankle waiting to happen in some spots). No views from the top but found the BM. Definitely glad to have this one crossed off the list, though I do suspect it would make a nice winter hike with snowshoes since the logging road would still present a clear trail, but a sufficiently deep snowpack would take care of most of the ground-level obstacles.
