Ascent of Hyndman Peak on 2016-07-09
|Date:||Saturday, July 9, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||12009 ft / 3660 m|
Ascent Trip ReportCame in through Wildhorse Side and did the east slope approach to ridge then NorthWest scramble to summit. Good granite for Class 3 and Class 4 climbing. Class 4 to get out of the higher basin to the ridge between Duncan and Hyndman and a little sketchy 4 on the final assault up the NW face to the summit. Fun fun route. Don't do it if you don't like a little exposure though. Also hit Duncan Peak first once we hit the saddle- came up through drainage closest to Duncan Pk on initial approach to ridge line.
This is a way more exciting ascent than the classic Sun Valley side. But don't do it if you don't like a little exposure and flexible climbing.
