Ascent Trip Report

A beautiful sunny Sunday morning hike with my wife, with only a handful of cars in the parking lot when we arrived at about 10am. This is a very easy hike, and I highly recommend doing the loop. It's about 3/4 mile to the top using the shorter trail (on the left) from the parking lot on Green Lake Road, and it is less steep than the longer trail that starts out on the right at the parking area. The trail is in very good condition, very well marked and very easy to follow. By the time we got back to the car, the lot was full and cars were parked on Green Lake Road. We saw many hikers on their way up as we were descending. It's easy for the entire family and your dog to do. Great views of the surrounding lakes. Was very disappointed and saddened by the vandalism of the caretaker's cabin - it's senseless and thoughtless. It costs money to keep these building maintained, but it just doesn't make any sense to bother maintaining the building if it's just going to be vandalized. Otherwise, it was a very enjoyable hike.
