Ascent Trip ReportTough but fun hike up Willow Creek canyon and then down via Wolf Pass and the (1/2 nonexistent) Nebo bench trail. Made for a VERY long day after spending 6 hours at work. A couple of things on the route:
1. I wouldn't recommend low clearance on Willow Creek road, although I saw one coming down.
2. The trail up sometimes just a bit faint, the only place I lost it completely was right after the lovely campsite at 2 miles up the trail. The actual trail is much further south (right) than indicated on the map. continue through the first campsite, through the meadow to another large campsite, the trail picks up at the SE corner of the campsite. Bushwhacking that section was obnoxious.
3. While the Nebo bench trail is an incredibly picturesque route, the trail pretty much ends at a campsite that is essentially straight down the ridge from Nebo Middle. Everything S of that was a pretty tough route finding exercise (largely in the dark). There are occasional trail markers, and a trail on the PeakBagger app CalTopo map, but often (even right below one of the trail markers), there is no trail to speak of. Sometimes the trail I could find (I relied both on the preloaded PeakBagger maps as well as strava "Load Route", as I had created a route trying to map it out with satellite.) was not where it was marked.
