Ascent of Buell Peak on 2016-06-18
|Date:||Saturday, June 18, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||5756 ft / 1754 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis trip was a scramble of Buell and Barrier Peaks via the Owyhigh Lakes Trail from the Deer Creek trailhead.
We encountered LOTS of downed trees across the trail, some were easy to climb over or under while others required detouring through the brush to get around. We didn't see much snow until after we departed from trail (at about 4,700 ft) to scramble up to the peaks though. We were out for nearly 10 hours on a Saturday in June and didn't encounter any other hikers at all-- the cool, wet, and foggy weather may have had something to do with this. Still, it was a beautiful, peaceful day in the mountains!
