Ascent Trip ReportShort, fairly uninteresting hike to summit of Lead Mountain. No views at summit or anywhere along trail. The AMC Mountain Guide 9th edition states there are views on ledges 200 yards from summit, but I suspect this area is all grown in now. Bushwhacked all around the area, and did find ledges (with a benchmark), but there were no views to speak of.
Directions to trailhead were spot-on. The dirt road leading to trailhead is rough and is not recommended for cars with low clearance. The entire trail to summit is a bulldozed access road—moderately steep in some sections, gravelled.
The AMC Mt. Guide mentions passing a UMaine acid rain project, but this appears to have been dismantled and left in front of the old warden's cabin halfway up.
No one else on trail at time of ascent.
