Ascent Trip ReportThe seventh of an eleven mountain trip to the Adirondacks covering 34 miles with 24,000' of elevation change. 12/46 progress to becoming an Adirondack 46er. Seventh and final mountain of the day setting a personal record. After a long grueling day we set up camp on the side of the trail between Basin Mtn and Haystack Mtn about an hour before sunset. We spent a good portion of the day outside of the treeline with amazing views. Our original plan called for us to cross Mt Haystack and camp near Panthers Gorge but we lost a couple hours in the morning due to a later than expected departure time. We stepped off the next morning around 9:30 am. This was the first use of my JetBoil stove which worked great. Dehydrated meals save weight and having hot coffee in the morning is a new level of fantastic. It was also the first use of the Dr. Davitt's Eureka 2.5 person tent which was easy to set up, had good space inside, a functional vestibule and a gear loft which is a great organization tool and space saver.
