Ascent Trip Report

This is one of the most popular hiking trails in the state and with good reason. The scenery is exceptional as you ascend the South Fork of Mill B Canyon en route to Lake Blanche. The view of Sundial Peak above Lake Blanche is the logo for the Wasatch Mountain Club.

I hit the trail fairly early on a Saturday morning (started hiking from the trailhead at about 6:30 am). The first sunshine on the trail was near the destination at Lake Blanche. On the way up to the lake I came across maybe 3 or 4 people, on the way down I saw well over 100.

It was pleasant to find that even in the prime of the summer hiking season, on a Saturday, and near a major urban center, one could still find solitude if you are willing to hike relatively early in the morning.
