Ascent Trip ReportThis is one of the most popular hiking trails in the state and with good reason. The scenery is exceptional as you ascend the South Fork of Mill B Canyon en route to Lake Blanche. The view of Sundial Peak above Lake Blanche is the logo for the Wasatch Mountain Club.
I hit the trail fairly early on a Saturday morning (started hiking from the trailhead at about 6:30 am). The first sunshine on the trail was near the destination at Lake Blanche. On the way up to the lake I came across maybe 3 or 4 people, on the way down I saw well over 100.
It was pleasant to find that even in the prime of the summer hiking season, on a Saturday, and near a major urban center, one could still find solitude if you are willing to hike relatively early in the morning.
