Ascent of Lane Peak on 2016-01-02
|Others in Party:||Sherrie Trecker|
|Date:||Saturday, January 2, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||No Summit Goal|
| Elevation:||5957 ft / 1815 m|
Ascent Trip ReportWe used snowshoes for the approach, which we strapped to our packs while going up the Zipper. Easy snow conditions made the Zipper simply step-kicking the whole way up, only a single mountaineering axe & crampons were necessary. We carried light ropes, a winter rack with a bit of everything, and a 2nd ice tool for every climber, but needed none of that. We finished the Zipper, but opted not to do the summit as it would have required roping up at that point, and we had a very short window of time for the climb given that the Longmire Gate opened late and closed early.
