Ascent Trip ReportStarted on Jack's Gap trail from Jack's Gap around dusk on May 6. Hiked in less than a mile, found a campsite and set up for the night. Next day hiked to Chattahoochee Gap on the AT and headed north to Spaniards Knob. passed Red Clay Gap and climbed more directly up the side of Spaniards through dense waist-high brush. A few very large trees on summit, as well as normal sized trees, and not much view. Clearer views of Brasstown Bald from the AT than the summit. Descended down gentler grade, rejoining AT closer to Red Clay Gap. Returned to Chatt Gap and proceeded south on AT to summit Horsetrough before retracing my steps back to Chatt and then Jack's Gap.
