Ascent Trip Report

Hiked from Anderson Truck Trail. Read previous reports about a locked gate. Parking is well before any locked gate. Proceed past the water tanks (obvious) on the right at start of the FS road 15S30 (Anderson Truck Trail). At 0.35 mile there is a pullout with parking for about 4 cars. I did not use an Adventure Pass as there were no toilets and/or picnic tables (use your discretion) and that's the rule of thumb I follow. The use trail is pretty obvious, just opposite the parking pull-out. A steep, but very straight forward climb. It gets right to the point but also well constructed so as not to be over strenuous. Reports I read about steepness slightly exaggerated in terms of difficulty but it's no biggy for anyone in good shape (disclaimer). Great views of El Cajon Mtn. Hike took just under one hour to reach summit and less to return. Started at 0930 sharp; summit at 1026 hr., back at car at 1116 hr.
