Ascent Trip Report

We went to Mass on Saturday so we could get out in the beautiful weather. We intended to head up the little known Green Mountain in the Olympics, but the roads didnt go as per the maps, sowe couldnt get close enough to make it worth it.

We adjusted course and saw the signage for the Townsend trail, so we decided to get some trsil time in remembering some recent trip reports that said it may be possible with the snow starting to melt. We were not really prepared for what amounted to a very steep snow climb, but we made the best of it, and it ended up being pretty fun. This was isabel's most challenging peak to date, the previous being Mount Ellinor in summer, and she really killed it. The views at the top were super, and we enjoyed the summit to ourselves save one adventurious soul, the remainder turning back once the snow engulfed and devoured the trail.

I jogged over to North Townsend to get the views of the strait while Isabel ate her granola bar and dried her socks out.

We then slogged down the trail, making the entire trip in 3.5 hours with a nice break at the summit.
