Ascent Trip Report

Alternate route: I got a permit for the rainbow bridge area" which this is right? I drove to 7800 feet before snow blocked the path and very shortly thereafter a large fallen ponderosa. I descended the road and found 2 more large pines that have fallen and blocked the road this winter, one nearly 3 feet in diameter. I am sure the telecom maintenance crews will clear them out come summer though. Prior to wargod springs I veered right up to a small bench and then ascended the rock falls to the dome of forest above. A storm had moved through the day before, but had left mostly rime ice covering this forest which gave it a nice, albeit very cold ambiance. I made the summit just as the sun warmed enough to have very large chunks of rime come crashing down, some half the size of my body. My idea of climbing the tower quickly dissipated. Instead I continued along the ridge to the north where the slope of the dome falls abruptly in to what must be the best view of lake Powell and escalante of any peak. None drop as sharply, from as high, or as close to the canyons as Navajo. The views of Rainbow Arch are amazing, the Henries, to Abajos. Someone should get a ski shot from there, bet you make the cover of something.
