Ascent Trip ReportFinally made it to North Dome, a hike I had long desired. Absolutely incredible view of Half Dome and Yosemite Valley. Unfortunately, regional wildfires made the view a bit hazy. Also visited nearby arch at Indian Rock.
The trail becomes pretty tricky when you get to the exposed granite sections as you descend toward North Dome. Sometimes only a few rocks line the way with little to no cairns present. There's a section where you actually turn left (northeast) away from North Dome and descend down a few switchbacks to a forested area, then start to ascend the dome itself.
Descending toward North Dome. Sentinel Dome is visible on the right horizon and you can also see smoke from a nearby fire (2015-08-11). Photo by Scott Sharaga.
