Ascent Trip ReportHiked Mount Dana with friends the day after my 25th birthday. Icy cold wind at the top, but the view of Mono Lake was incredible! Skypilots were in bloom at the top!
I was quite surprised to see that there was an actual trail to the top. Partially-maintained; it's really steep. You climb out of the forest and eventually onto a wide-open plateau with your first view of the main part of Dana and distant High Sierra peaks like Mt. Lyell. From here the real challenge begins as you ascend up a steep talus slope, following the very large cairns to the top.
