|Date:||Friday, March 4, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||3130 ft / 954 m|
Ascent Trip ReportOne of Vt's 100 highest ascended on a mild winter day with very little snow.
This is a relatively easy bushwhack. I came in from Route 12A in East Granville Village. There is a gated logging road .25 south of Handly Road on the west side of 12A. The gate includes a sign that states it is owned/conserved by a conservation organization (can't recall which but not a Vermont based group) and that pedestrian access is allowed - great! How often do you see that?
Follow the logging road on a bearing of N 60 degrees W on logging roads (there are many). I crossed the E Granville Brook about 1 mile in but one could stay on the south side of the brook all the way to the ridge. The listed elevation is 3130 but I read 3178 at the peak which is wooded. There are some decent views to the east on the ascent. Much of this area is being managed for timber.
