Ascent Trip ReportA red-mud road walk westbound ..... 2 1/2 miles, 1:10 hours RT.
From the JCT 19/395 (approx. 10.5 miles north of Philadelphia) we drove north on 395 for 4.4 miles to a left turn on Plattsburg Road (Baptist Church on corner), then .8 miles north to a gated dirt road on the left (32.95299,-89.19600). We couldn't park at the gate because of the wet muddy conditions, so we had to squeeze a spot on Plattsburg Road. As reported in our first TR of the day, we had huge rains yesterday, making dirt roads a real muddy problem everywhere we went.
I hopped the gate and walked the soft-red-mud road west less than a mile to a fork on the road (just past a grass clearing), where I stayed right, climbed moderately-steep northerly 300 yards to the ridge, then again west 200 yards along the ridge to the obvious high ground with open tall pines..... chose my spot 5 yards to the right (39.95221,-89.21302).
Once again today I came out with boots/pants full of red mud.
"LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE."
