Ascent Trip Report

This was day two of our 2016 winter hiking excursion, and after hiking 11 miles the day before, we decided to take it easy today and do a couple of shorties, including Baker Mountain and Owl's Head. Baker Mountain is only .9 of a mile and about 900ft of elevation gain, but it offers nice views of the surrounding lakes and mountains of the Adirondacks, with plenty of exposed rock outcroppings on the summit. The weather this day was a bit overcast, so, the views were ok, not perfect. You could see quite a ways, but it was just gray. The hike up this day required either crampons or micro spikes. The Micro spikes were perfect for the job and gave us the footing we needed. A nice hike.
