Ascent Trip Report

I met up with Troy outside Hermiston Friday evening and we carpooled down to Klamath Falls. It snowed from La Pine to Chiloquin, with frequent car crashes along the side of 97. We took it slow, eventually setting up camp around 10pm next to Upper Klamath Lake. We woke up early to spectacular views of the Mountain Lakes wilderness area, covered with a nice layer of fresh snow. Parked at Summit Snow Park, crossed the highway and found lots of fresh powder. Fortunately there was a nice fairly packed Snowshoe track that we followed all the way to summit. Amazing views of McLoughlin all day. Snowmobiles kind of detracted from the overall experience, a couple groups were riding in the bowl directly beneath the summit.
