Ascent Trip Report

We left Mt. Dunham and headed north to Orrey Mt. We had to descend very little, about 75’ before we started heading up, to Orrey. There wasn’t much to see from this wooded summit. We kept moving and found a partial view, north. We saw a few higher peaks at 30o (magnetic) and wondered what they were. At home I checked and looked on a bearing of 16o. It points toward the High Peaks, but I’m unsure exactly which Mountain(s) we saw. We then headed down toward the north. We knew where the car was and kept setting new bearings every few minutes to adjust our path. We eventually crossed out own tracks going in. The plan was to aim off and hit the road, east of the original ridge that we climbed on the way in. We came out about 25 yards on the east side of the ridge. It was much easier traversing this slope. We walked the road, back to the car.
