Ascent Trip ReportHiked up from Twin Gates via Mt. Isabel, and returned via a route that rejoins west of Mt. Isabel (but high on the ridge), making for around 5k elevation hike. I had done Pyramid less than a year earlier (and wrote my name in the 35mm summit log--the previous log being quite a bit older), but wanted to take a group of people there this time around for V-Day. The cross-country route from Mt. Isabel was obvious from an satellite image, and straightforward in practice. Many of the roads are not on topo maps. Final uphill (on the way back) to regain the "main" Mt. Isabel trail must have been a bulldozed firebreak; seems it was steep enough that the bulldozer didn't quite make it to the ridgeline, resulting in a bit of bushwhacking just at the end. I had done that section two years prior, and it was no better or worse this time around. Definitely not too popular. Very nice area.
