Ascent Trip Report

We parked at the Oak Creek Trail head off of Charleston/SR159. Did this one with the wife and another couple. We used the main trail that heads toward the knoll. This trail, wide in most sections, appears to be an old road or stretched wash or both. It's a great walk all through here as you move next to and towards the beautiful red rocks, especially Mt. Wilson. At a saddle area under Mt. Wilson, we veered and took the trail to the right which proceeds to wind its way to the summit. For the most part, it's an easy hike from trail head to summit, but there's a really big payoff view at this little summit for such an easy trip. I've done this hike a few times and it's been worth it every time. And, the summit area seems to maintain a bit of obscurity too. The times that I've done this hike, there have been many other hikers on the approach trail towards the Wilson saddle area, but I've never actually seen anyone else on the up trail or at the summit. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing this one again sometime soon.
