Ascent Trip ReportThe Sky really started to clear up as we approached Pierce. We stopped a few hundred feet short of the summit for Hot Chocolate and pictures, as the wind was no longer a problem, and the sky had cleared to about 5000 feet. Saw 12 more hikers here and a couple Gray Jays, although we didn't get to feed them. Took plenty of Pictures and headed up to the summit. I jogged down the trail a bit to get a shot of Chocorua against the orange sky and went back to the summit to get ready for the ride down. We got out the sleds and headed back to Crawford Path for a fast descent. the first two runs were the best, the second being just over a half mile from 4000 feet to 3550 feet in about 6 minutes. We passed a few hikers on the way down, most of them impressed with our sledding skills, and made it from the Pierce intersection to the road in 40 minutes. Our best sledding yet. By the time we changed and left for Conway and dinner, the sun had come out, and by the time we got there, there wasn't a cloud in the sky over the Presidentials. I guess it pays to be late sometimes...
