Ascent Trip Report

We decided to make an attempt on this peak by following Daniel Mick's extremely detailed (and confirmed accurate) directions on getting as close to the top as possible while working around the closed gates which are only open in November. Unfortunately, there was 3-5 inches of snow on the ground and was actively snowing. The roads took us almost an hour to navigate through as there is quite a web of roads and side trials to get lost in. Due to these facts, we did not feel save continuing to drive our 4x4 vehicle down the narrow roads late in the afternoon.

Even without the snow, we determined making an attempt on this peak is a pain if not done in November when the gates are open. Your options are to either hike Toll Road after the gate (which looks like quite a few miles each way) or to follow Daniel Mick's instructions which are spot on and incredibly helpful in determining where to go! Just plan on a couple of hours for road navigation...or better yet, wait till November as you can drive within 5 minutes hiking distance of the summit.
