Ascent Trip ReportAs far as I can determine, Whiting Mountain is the 14th highest named highpoint in Arkansas. My son, Marshall, and I thought we had reached the summit, but unfortunately, when we got home we discovered we were actually about a half mile to the southeast where three 2360-foot contour lines give the impression that you are standing at the highest point. My mistake occurred by recording incorrect coordinates from someone else's trip report. The road to this area cautions that it is for "high clearance vehicles" but I drove it in my 1991 Ford Festiva without too much trouble. We will be back later to claim the true highest point on Whiting Mountain.
