Ascent of Vickory Mountain on 2016-02-03
|Date:||Wednesday, February 3, 2016|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||10330 ft / 3148 m|
Ascent Trip ReportThis is a great peak for snowshoeing. The ridge is gradual most of the time, but long. Great views from the Raft Rivers near the Idaho border, Pilot peak, Ibapah, Moriah, Wheeler, Notch, the Tushars, Nebo, Timpanogas and up to Ben Lomond area. There are lots of firm windslabs on the ridge to help with trailbreaking, but dont expect it to be broken for you on this seldom visited summit. Nice limber pines, but unfortunately a fire on the west side wiped many out up to the ridge and even jumped over in a few spots to the lusher eastern aspect. There are lots of forest left though. We found the entrails of a very recent rabbit kill and a left over foot, we didnt keep it, but felt that we still had good luck.
