Ascent Trip ReportWhat a wonderful hike! I checked in with Greg of East Haven Mountain, Inc to ask his permission to hike to their cabin near the summit. He was very very helpful providing instructions for parking on Victory Road and sending me a forecast and trail conditions report the morning of the hike - Wow! From the parking lot its about 2 miles to a really nice cabin which the group rents for $40 per person a night. I sat on the deck for lunch admiring the view to the East and the cozy little cabin. Its very attractive and has some amenities including solar powered electricity, a gas cooking range and a very nice Vermont Castings wood stove. It was very appealing. Behind the cabin is a wooden tower about 50 feet high for observation, The summit is about another half mile or so. The cabin site is also a weather station operated in partnership with the Mt Washington Weather Observatory and some equipment for that purposes is nearby. Although there was only about 12 inches of snow I was able to ski the first mile in and ski out on the return. Altogether a very enjoyable climb of one of Vermont's 100 highest
This is only a few miles from East Mountain - Vermont's creepiest mountain.
