Ascent Trip Report

The elevation of historic Cameron Hill used to be much higher. If the preservationists of today had been around back when developers proposed to shave the top of it off, the destruction of the hill likely would never have happened. It had history from the Civil War and was also home to a thriving residential community. But developers thought it would be cool to level the top of the hill to put some tacky stucco apartments down. Incredibly, they were allowed to do so. At one time they were considered cool, but they became ugly in no time.

Cameron Hill is now home to the beautiful, state-of-the-art, new headquarters of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee after the apartments were razed.

I've been to the top of this hill many times. It used to be the best place in town to see the skyline of Chattanooga. It still is, but you have to get past Blue Cross Blue Shield security to get to it.
