|Ascent Type:||Unsuccessful - Turned Back|
|Point Reached:||Saddleback Mountain - False summit west of the true summit|
| Elevation:||4100 ft / 1249 m|
| Remaining Elevation:||20 ft / 6 m (1% left to go)|
Ascent Trip ReportWe started out with overcast skies. The ascemnt went well. Just about treeline (around 3800 feet) we entered the clouds with very limitted visibility, perhaps 50 to 75 feet. We arrived at the "summit" and celebrated a successful summit. Returned the same way and went home happy.
It wasn't until 3 months later when we decided to do a traverse of the Saddleback Range that we discovered we stopped at the wrong bump back in April . We had turned around at the 4,100 foot bump just west of the true summit. All turned out for the best though because it gave us a chance to celebrate a successful summit all over again.
