Ascent Trip Report

This was our last State Park HP of the day. This park is accessed off of San Andreas Road on Sunset Beach Road. This was the only park we had to pay an entrance fee. The park attendant told us that the Aeroport point was the highest point. We drove to a spot near one of the campgrounds and could see the highest, vegetation-covered dune. We walked along the road and found the park residence with a road behind it. This requires some stealth moves. We walked up that road and came to a loop with a benchmark in the middle of it. There is also a short building on top, which looked to be water related. Again, the views were spectacular. You could also see the Aeroport spot about 200 yards further down the dunes to the south.
