Ascent Trip Report

This park highpoint is in the upper parking lot. You need to take State Park Drive off of Highway 1. You can park outside the park on Santa Cruz Avenue along a fence. We walked into the parking lot noticing a few RVs setup. We talked to the camp host and she stated the beach was washed out and the pier was unsafe. So all the campers were moved up to the day use parking lot. We found the HP near the gate to the park service area. We did walk to the edge of the cliffs and noticed a steel fence protruding through the sand. We were told that the fence was built in 1920 to keep the sand from washing away. Well...the storms took the sand anyway almost 100 years later. Enjoy the views here.
