Ascent Trip Report

From my parking spot at the state park HQ, I took the White Dot Trail 0.7 mi to Falcon Spring, where the Cascade Link took off 0.7 mi to the Spellman Trail; that was the way I went. 1.4 mi from my car, I followed the Spellman Trail 0.6 mi to the Pumpelly Trail on the ridge. There was some decent scrambling, and I used an ice axe and crampons for a lot of it. Would be fun in summer too!

At the end of the Spellman Trail, I went north on the Pumpelly Trail about 0.1 mi to the start of a herd path to the open ledges of Town Line Peak. The summit was open, ledgy, and scrubby, with excellent views in most directions. My favorite part was the unique view of Monadnock you can't get most places. After chilling (no pun intended) a bit, I went back to the trail, then kept going north about a 1/2 mile or so, then took the Cascade Link back to the way I came up.
