Ascent Trip Report

Not a real peak (not enough prominence), but decided to go out and grab one more hill before the end of the year. My wife and I stayed with my mom in Port Townsend over Christmas and this peak was just across the road in Fort Worden.

I ran down the main street of Fort Worden from Mom's house and took an unmaintained trail to the road leading up to Memory's Vault. I then started a steep scramble up a deer path that took me to the overlook just behind the old movie theater. From there, I headed due east to the high point, crossing over a false summit and spooking quite a a few dear in the process.

The summit is on top of an old command post and is marked by an old engine with the engraving "Hercules Power." Partly cloudy out and tress obstruct most of the views of the olympics and cascades.

After briefly exploring the command post, I headed back and took a road to the south back town to the main part of Fort Worden. Nice run.
