Ascent Trip Report

Met my sister and drove out to Garrett County to bag the Maryland high point. Traffic on the way out was decent, cloudy and a bit rainy at points. My sister has a book which directed us to the parking place, which was just a basic pull-off from 219 past the West Virginia line. We started up the mile trail climbing consistently until the top of the ridge. I was mostly just regular hiking, didn't try to run up for any sort of segment time. We took the trail to the border monument and then over to the sign and rock pile. Took some pictures, enjoyed the view that was fairly clear at that point. Since it was such a short hike we diverted over to the next point on the ridge, which was the Preston County high point, so at least it was something. That increased the total trip to 5 miles and included some bushwhacking. It was an out-and-back and then we took the high point trail back down to the road and headed home.
