Ascent Trip Report

Left at 4pm, very late, had to use headlamp soon. I was looking for the lean-to but lost track in large open and blown down area. Trees were falling and I was scared. I then fell in water and my feet froze. Couldn't see 2 inches in front of me. I tried to track the lean-to with GPS but bushwhacking in these conditions was not possible. Went back, found a big rock to sleep under, prepared mat, sleeping bag and bivy sac. I was really starting to freeze. When I decided to get in sleeping bag, my crampons wouldn't unbind and I was stuck with them. Decided to leave and get back to the car. I took a very long time tracking back, couldn't see footsteps or trails, I used GPS to trackback but wasn't working too well in ultratrack. Total time 9 hours and almost no progress, only 12 miles.
