Ascent Trip Report3.5 miles west of Alturas on CA 299 I turned onto Crowder Flat Rd (Rd 73). A sign near the intersection reads "Blue Mountain L.O.--32 miles." Continuing north for 26 miles on good dirt/gravel road through Devils Garden, turn west on Clear Lake Rd (FSR 136)for 4 miles, then 2.5 miles on the turnoff to Blue Mountain L.O. Though remotely located, it is an easy drive. There was little evidence this morning, other than a light pervasive, haze, that over 100 fires were burning, started by last week's potent thunderstorms. Originally built in 1966, it was refurbished about three years ago. From the L.O. From the L.O. I rejoined Clear Lake Rd, driving west about 25 miles to CA 139.
