Ascent Trip ReportFrom Laytonville on U.S. 101 go west 2.5 miles on the Branscomb road, which turns sharply to the left at this point. Continue straight ahead on the Cahto Peak Rd. In 0.7 mile the pavement ends and a well maintained dirt road, steep in places but easy, continues for 4.2 miles to a locked gate. Walk up the road about 2/3 mile to a saddle, where the road splits. Go south (left) to the flat summit of Cahto Peak, which is festooned with telecommunications equipment. Cahto Peak L.O. is on a slightly lower knoll to the south, accessed by its own road just beyond the saddle. Though no longer in regular use, it appears to be in reasonably good condition.
