Ascent Trip Report

On the way home from the Jones/Toevs wedding, Lori and I took the backroads from Council through Indian Valley toward Emmett to catch the Payette County highpoint. This is quite remote backcountry, but an enjoyable drive. The Indian Valley road is paved past Indian Valley. We eventually turned onto Riley Butte Road, and then to Four Mile Road. As we neared the Washington/Payette County Line, GPS directed us east. My new GPS gizmo took us to a place north of the High Point due to operator error on the inputs. With some further corrections, we found the jeep track off of Four Mile road at the Payette County line sign and headed up the ridge. We traversed an area with some packed snow, and finally topped out at the knob just inside Washington county, with a little help from the front and rear lockers in the Jeep. From there the 4763 knob inside Payette County was obvious. The jeep track continues there and beyond. We reached the highpoint at 12:45, took a few pictures and headed to Emmett for lunch. Would be worth a return trip to this area either late spring or earlier in the fall. This is Idaho COHP #15 for me.
