Ascent Trip ReportI drove from Lake Isabella north along the Kern River Highway past Road's End to the Sherman Pass Rd-FSR 22S05 (31 miles), which, with curves and switchbacks, leads to Sherman Pass (9,140') in 15.5 miles. A gentle, 2-mile trail (FSR 33E35) climbs through conifers to the top, where a fire lookout once stood. Now only a radio relay tower is there to greet the hiker. Good views of Olancha Peak, Mt. Langley, and Mt. Whitney.
