Ascent Trip ReportYesterday afternoon I hiked about 5 miles from the Van Vleck TH via the Red Peak Tr to camp overnight at Lake #3 below Red Peak. This morning I headed up to the main ridge above Lake #3 and worked my way up among the rocks to Silver Peak. Great views of Lake Tahoe, the Desolation Wilderness, and the Crystal Range. I found no register. I was tempted to continue over to McConnell Peak, but being alone and uncertain about the durability of my knee, I returned to camp to spend a leisurely afternoon and another night enjoying the solitude at Lake #3. The next morning I hiked back to the Van Vleck TH without seeing anyone since leaving there. |
