Ascent Trip ReportFrom the car park south east of Rydal Water. Followed the road/path west and took the fork marked Rydal Caves. At the first large cave I took the hillside to its left up and followed a path that was a bit muddy for a while. At a junction I trended right (west) and the path then took me to the top.
As befits a Trail 100 top the views were extensive. Clouds smothered the higher tops at the end of Langdale and brushed the head of Helvellyn. But there were great views of Fairfield and its horseshoe, Windermere and Elterwater plus more distant hills to the south.
After sheltering from the biting northerly breeze to eat my lunch I returned north by the public footpath to Loughrigg Terrace and followed this back to the starting point. 2hrs all told, including the lunch stop.
