Ascent Trip Report

Took the Northwest ridge. From the Siberia Hut, go south on the trail to just past the small stream on the topo and then start ascending through the forest. There was a trickle of water we could fill up at once we reached tree line and traversing the Tussock over to the ridge. (Hint traverse low, it gets really steep up high and if wet at all it would be very dangerous. Once on the ridge continue until you reach the rocky spires. I would definitely not recommend crossing high on the ridge proper they are very crumbly and we spent alot of time going over and then backtracking because they were to unstable, just go down the first chute on the right until you can traverse over about 3 chutes and then up. From here there is fun scrambling to the summit and lots of mischievous kea. Great views of Awful, Alba, Brewster and even to Aspiring!
