Ascent Trip Report

Parked at main parking lot and hiked down 0.5 the paved bike road to bottom of park near the RR tracks and river. I found a little herd trail through the tall grass that crossed the RR and down through the electrical poles and climbed down he steep thick brush to the river's edge and made the river my trailhead. Then backing up I found a new trail near the power line and found a series of lateral trails that ran with the contours and others that were not maintained that shot straight up the mountain. This place is heavily used so you can find trail after trail of any steepness and shape. I found from paved to unpaved but well maintained and even some straight up through the rocks and a few places where scampering or minor scrambles were needed.

Some decent views for OK and a pretty nice vegetated park; but as such, very crowded with bikes, hikers, joggers, and explorers. Once achieving the summit, it was time to explore and there are trails in every direction. To make the day worthy, I attempted to climb down one trail and up another and basically cover the entire mountain feature with up and down gain seeing the side slopes from many angles.

The wind was outrageous today. At times blowing trees over. I found many over turned trees in the roads today and was hiking on a small herd trail in the park when an entire tree fell down right beside me. Kind of interesting to see. Surprised this was not already in the database until I added it. It is the most hiked mountain like feature in the Tulsa area and not a bad little park-climb.
