Ascent Trip Report

Left home early and after the drive from Stonyford up the intricate
series of roads arrived at the Summit Springs TH at 11:00AM. Much of the route via Cedar Camp is on good trail and easily followed, but there are sections beyond where it is faint and marked by occasional ducks. A rare California Alpine Club register is on the summit. I understand that on a crystal-clear day you can see "forever," but not so today because of the distant haze. Before returning I visited slightly lower Snow Mountain West nearby. Returned to the car at 3:50PM, then drove the 170 miles home. Despite all the driving time, I enjoyed my few hours hiking in the solitude of the Snow Mountain Wilderness
