Ascent Trip Report

Today our great Base Camp in the middle of Little Five Lakes disbanded. Some campers returned to Mineral King via Black Rock Pass, Pinto Lake, Cliff Creek, and Timber Gap with an overnight stop. Others of us returned in one day on a route that took us past Big Five Lakes, through Lost Canyon, past Columbine Lake (10,975'), and over Sawtooth Pass (11,600'). Most of the group detoured here to ascend the final 700' of gain along the Northwest Ridge to the top of Sawtooth Peak. Great views, near and far. After a leisurely stay, we returned to the pass and headed 3800' down the last 4 miles of of the Sawtooth Pass Trail to Mineral King.
