Ascent of Scott Peak on 2015-09-29
|Date:||Tuesday, September 29, 2015|
|Ascent Type:||Successful Summit Attained|
| Elevation:||11393 ft / 3472 m|
Ascent Trip ReportI parked at the gate in Scott Canyon and climbed Edward's Ridge (as in the trip report from Edward Earl) and came down the next ridge east (see GPS track). Edward's Ridge is a nice direct route, class 2 all the way with game/use trails on climber's left of the gendarmes. GPS says 9.1 miles roundtrip with total vertical gain of 3,900' (includes the walk over to Webber).
The simplest, fastest road access is to take the Nicholia Ranch exit off Idaho 28, drive to the major fork near the ranch (near the base of the range) then turn southeast; BLM signs name all the canyons including Scott. The old Scott Canyon road running perpendicular to ID 28 is quite rutted, way dusty, and slow.
