Ascent Trip ReportMuch better conditions than when I was last on Kinder Scout back in Feb 2011. Returned with Gina for her to claim Derbyshire's Historic County Top as part of our joint effort to visit every Historic County Top in England and Wales. This time I had GPS so I know I am at the high point. Also this time I can see more than 50' beyond my nose end and found a cairn on one grassy prominence on a peat mound and a stick nearby on another grassy prominence on a peat mound. Last time I only found a grassy prominence on a peat mound with no cairn and no stick, so this time KINDER SCOUT DEFO CLAIMED. Also great to see grass taking hold on summit plateau don't know if my perception was warped because of low visibility but both hags and groughs seem much more benign than last visit. Route details walked Including statistics, route map, photographs and walk description. |
