Ascent Trip Report

***Sierra Club Outing***
led by Mat Kelliher, Bill Simpson, Virginia Simpson

Traverse along Pinos Ridge on Day 1 of the HPS Fall Festival. We started out with a drive up to Cerro Noroeste and then walked over to the 8243' spot elevation to see if it was worthy for peak status; it's not, not even a high point.

After driving over to the trailhead for the Mt Pinos Trail east of Cerro Noroeste and west of Grouse, we dropped down a few hundred feet on trail and then started the long climb up to Grouse. Grouse was nice, we had lunch up there, and then we headed over to West Sawmill Mtn, then down and back up to Sawmill Mtn. Took a bunch of photos of the Spirit Tower on Sawmill and then headed over to Mt Pinos. From Pinos all but Chris, Stella, and Tanya headed back to the trailhead.

Nice day, great weather.

Mileage and gain includes the round trip for Grouse, the Sawmills and Mt Pinos: 9.25 miles, 3,000'
