Ascent Trip Report

Had stayed with a friend of mine in nearby Moosup, CT on the way back to the Hudson Valley of NY from Katahdin. Parked on the side of RI 101 right next to the brown sign that says "Jerimoth Hill, 812 ft., Highest Point in the state". A few feet from the roadside sign there's a piece of orange flagging and a wooden sign with "Jerimoth Hill Trail" and an arrow written on it, right next to someone's driveway. The true high point is a rock about maybe 1000 ft into the woods (and probably only 5-10ft. higher than my parking spot) next to a small clearing with a couple of sheds in it. Signed the summit logbook in the old ammo can next to a pile of rocks someone had put at the summit. For a patch of woods that would be totally insignificant were it not a state high point, people have taken the trouble to make a lot of decorations for it.
