Ascent Trip Report

I have had my eye on this peak way back when I started getting into hiking I had originally planned for this to be my first summit however I am very glad I waited for this one. The views were unreal and I was surrounded by peaks I had climbed before which was a real treat!

I did this one solo which was a big accomplishment for me. I started the day on the Rowe Lake trail head at 945 am and was a pretty straight forward trail to Lower Rowe lake I was a little nervous about bears (being ive encountered one on that trail before and being alone) I encountered a group of hikers and chatted with them until lower Rowe lake turn off. I continued to the Upper Rowe lake trail head it was there I met up with another group of hikers (Armani and Cora) from Medicine Hat. They were going to the ridge to see the Lineham Lakes, so I joined them and chatted a bit turns out it was Armani's 50th birthday I made sure to take tons of pictures for them and once we reached the top of Tamerack Trail I said goodbye and made my way up to the summit.

The path was easy though a tad windy but really well marked. Once I summited I took a few pictures, enjoyed all the views of the Peaks ive climbed. I could see Carthew (my first) Cammorn lake, Forum Peak, the tip of Burtha and Akaminia ridge I felt in awe for all the ones ive done this summer and it made me truly appreciate this summit and being surrounded by those mountains ive grown with. Its hard to believe the first time Id ever been in Waterton was March of this year. now I know the area pretty well (with a huge thanks to John and Ash). I had a snack before contemplating going back the way I came or down the scree slope. being this was my first time on my own and doing my own route finding I wanted to be sure. I opted for the scree slope which was a blast but the dead fall at the end made for some interesting bush whacking. I stuck to the right and eventually popped out right at the lower Rowe Lake trail. I had Lunch at Lower Rowe, then headed back down. All in all it was a great day! I am glad I did this one and marks not only the highest peak by my favorite so far
